Teamspace significance

Hi All,

We are working on ITBM module in Servicenow and w have read about Teamspace from ServiceNow documents, however we still have some doubts to clarify.

Can anyone help us with the same-

1. Can we install Teamspace at later also or is it necessary to configure it before development as we have already configured Ideation module as per customer requirements.

2. Can we install more than 5 Plugins for Teamspace as from the docs we came to know that we can install 5 Teamspace at a time.

3. Can someone please explain us the significance of Teamspace in a brief.

Thanks!

1.  Can we install Teamspace later?  Yes

2.  Can we install more than 5 Teamspaces?  I *believe* I heard something about being able to add more by request.  You'll have to speak to your rep though.  *However*, I would strongly advise taking a long look at WHY, and bringing in a 3rd party to advise.  If you're looking at ITBM with a heavy project bias, its easy to want to make teamspaces for different execution areas that could EASILY be facilitated with Programs and Portfolios.  Just like domain separation, I look at Teamspaces as one of those things people must justify with a gun to my head.  It's almost impossible to back out of the decision.

3.  Teamspace in a brief

Start by reading the docs page on Teamspaces, which is a bit technical, but still decent.
In my words, Teamspaces is a tool to allow multiple PMOs to operate on the same instance but still have data and functional separation.  Sometimes we're in a situation where (for example) IT and HR both execute projects and want a platform, but IT may be significantly more mature / complex.  Teamspaces makes new instances of the base project/demand/idea/tasks/settings so each team can work within their own space.

But just like #2, you have to be an absolute TYRANT about what counts as a team.  The natural urge is that each team "wants" their own play pen.  It's up to the astute platform owner what constitutes NEED though.

If you want a deeper discussion or a demo, don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Robert,

We currently have a requirement to implement a custom module for a Strategic Projects team which basically would use a lot of OOB PPM tables/forms like Project, Cost Plan, Benefit Plan and perform some customizations on these. Can you please let me know if doing these in Teamspace (tsp1) would be a good idea OR create a scoped Application and extend these OOB Tables and then do the implementation would be the best approach. Can you please share your thoughts on this.

Regards,

Harshad

Depends.  How are the customizations meant to interact with the rest of the projects across the organization?

"This true of ALL projects, everywhere"   Probably don't want to use a teamspace.

"This is only true of a subset of projects only visible to this team"  Good idea to investigate team spaces.
