Third-party tax engine integration connects ServiceNow Accounts Payable Operations solution to external tax engines, automating tax validation so that accurate invoices sail through and exceptions get flagged  without your team touching every line.

What does it do?
When an invoice arrives from the supplier, our integration sends invoice line data to your configured tax engine, which calculates the expected tax amount based on jurisdiction-specific rules. We then compare the supplier-stated tax against the engine's calculated tax and take the required action based on fully configurable variance thresholds.

For organisations processing high invoice volumes across multiple regions, the cumulative effect is significant: faster payment cycles, lower error rates, reduced compliance exposure, and an AP team that spends its time where it adds the most value.
The result: invoices with accurate taxes move straight through to payment with no manual intervention, while invoices with discrepancies are flagged as tax exceptions for your AP team to review.

What's needed to get started?
 - A supported third-party tax engine (for example, Vertex O Series) configured and accessible
- Tax engine connection settings defined in APO system properties
- Variance thresholds configured to match your organisation's tolerance policy

Why it matters?

This integration brings tax compliance into your automated AP workflow — reducing exceptions that reach payment, improving accuracy, and giving your AP team a clear, auditable record of every tax validation decision.
