Hi Experts,
I am facing a challenge in Product Modeling (CME) and would appreciate your insights or recommendations.
I have modeled a Bundle Product Offer that contains three child products. Out of these, two child Product Offers (PO1 and PO2) are functionally identical, but they require different characteristic values to be captured and passed downstream.
Current Modeling Approach:
- Created PO1 and PO2 as separate child Product Offers
- Both are associated with the same Product Specification (PS)
- The same PS is linked to common CFS and RFS specifications
Example:
- PS has a characteristic: Speed (values: 1 GB, 2 GB)
- During order capture:
- PO1 → Selected 1 GB
- PO2 → Selected 2 GB
Observed Issue:
After order completion:
- Both service orders (CFS/RFS level) receive Speed = 1 GB
- The value from one instance appears to override the other, likely due to reuse of the same PS
Key Concern:
This seems to be a limitation when reusing the same Product Specification across multiple Product Offers in a bundle, where each instance should ideally maintain independent characteristic values.
Questions:
- Have you encountered similar issues when reusing the same PS across multiple POs?
- Is this an expected behavior due to how characteristics are handled at the PS level?
- What would be the recommended modeling approach for such scenarios?
- Should separate PS instances be created for each PO?
- Or is there a way to handle this using configuration, cardinality, or context-based value propagation?
