contract renewal based on renewal end dates

We currently enter a contract with a start date and no end date, since the contract itself (EULA) has no end date.

We use the renewal start & end dates for renewals. So we would like to trigger the renewal based on renewal end date.

It seems the 'renew' button only shows up when the contract end date is filled in.

I find this cumbersome and not accurate, since again the contract itself is not expiring. And I don't want to create a new contract each time I have to renew, this is very confusing.

Please advise.

Hi @Nancy Schilli ,

You need to enter the end date in contract for sure because in the next tab you will be selecting number of years you are going to renew the contract. So once you save the record Renewal start and end date will be populated based on current end date, its mandatory to enter the end date for renewal dates to populate and also the contracts doesnt renew automatically you need to submit them for approval once the dates are expired.

Hope this helps!

I appreciate the response.

There are many circumstances. There could be a contract that is only a EULA. there is a quote for initial purchase, and then ongoing quotes for renewal or new purchases. we don't consider the quotes a contract. Therefore the 'contract' end date is not entered, since it's a perpetual license. only the renewal is completed against the contract. Which is why I feel that the renewal dates in the contract can be confined by the contract end date, but in some cases there is no contract end date, and therefore the renewal process should be done via the renewal dates, along with the renewal notice should be based off the renewal end date and not the contract end date.

Hi,
Did you manage to solve this?
