How can we add map a resource category to the custom model category?
We have created few custom model categories and we know that asset actions (from change, incident), normalization works only if we opt in for a specific resource category. Just wanted to know how we can link model categories with resource category. The resource category field on the model category is read only.

Hi Alan
Adding the parent cateory to the custom model category is the correct path to access the HAM PRO features and workflows. I have tested successfully myself. Let me know if it worked for you as well.

I also am having this same issue, but with model category "Network Testing Unit" (CI Class cmdb_ci_network_testing_unit). This looks like an OOTB model category so I can't figure why it's not part of the Network Gear resource category already. This is preventing us from using Disposal Orders to retire this hardware.
Do we just need to open a HI ticket?

HAM offers several model categories by default. Any model category manually created is treated as a custom model category. Assets assigned to a custom model category can utilize the Hardware Asset Management features and workflows if at least one of the following conditions is met:
- The custom model category is part of the opted-in model category hierarchy.
- The parent model category of the custom model category is linked to a licensable and opted-in resource category.
Make sure to assign a parent category to your custom model category
