Low Usage Removal Candidates for Adobe

Gavin Hughes

Hi,

Can someone help me understand how removal candidates with a justification of 'low usage' are created for Adobe products when there is no data in the 'Last used time' or 'Total minutes used' columns in the samp_sw_usage table, or the 'Last activity' column in the samp_sw_subscription table?

We had reclamation rules created when the Adobe integration was enabled. Please note that the SCCM usage jobs are also not enabled.

Regards,
Gavin

Hi @Gavin Hughes,

Interesting, I just checked and almost all Adobe subscriptions have a last_activity entry in the samp_sw_subscription table.

Maybe this is “old data”, or how up to date are the entries? One option would be to delete all Adobe RC's and then run the scheduled job “SAM - Identifying New Reclamation Candidates”. According to your description, it shouldn't be able to create any RCs due to the missing information. if so - please raise a support case, as we're unable to debug the script due to "protected" state.

Best, Dennis

Thanks, Dennis.

I have raised a support case as we are still seeing the issue after trying what you suggested.

Hi @dreinhardt,

I wanted to give you an update. The support case advised that we are getting the reclamation candidates created as each subscription is now hitting the 60 day 'Subscription Usage Threshold'. We are testing to see if changing this from 60 days to none, will stop the candidates from being created.

As a side note, do you mind me where the Adobe subscription usage data is coming from? As far as I was aware, the Adobe portal does not hold activity data, and I believe that in the ServiceNow video below, it mentions that the Adobe integration will not bring down usage. It would be great if we knew how to do it.

So the HI answer was to basically turn it off for Adobe?  Not fix it at the source of the problem that the usage data is not being updated?  We are having the same issue and I noticed in the samp_sw_usage table nothing has been updated for Adobe since 2023, while other products are.  We don't want to just turn it off, we want it to work as intended.  I'm going to kick it over to HI, and do a little more digging around on my end in the meantime.  If I find anything interesting will let you know, please do the same!
