#ASSETRECLAIMATION #SAM

All,

We have Software Asset Management module do not have HAM or EAM Module enabled.

Are we good to proceed with the OOB - Asset Reclaim catalog.

I see primarily this is HAM based and revolves around when the asset is handed back / picked up or dropped off , but I did see the there is a link in the SAM but not sure for this to work if we need booth EAM and HAM ??
I was able to generate a record via Asset reclamation but can't find the below either in App Nav or in SAM Workspace
Inventory > Asset Reclamation > Asset Reclamation Requests( close-an-asset-reclamation-request )

Hello @Saurav

Yes asset reclamation request is part of HAM
If you don't have HAM enabled and you're primarily using Software Asset Management (SAM), your access to some features and capabilities, including the full functionality of Asset Reclamation Requests, may be limited.

While you can create an asset reclamation request with SAM, it's important to note that HAM is designed to handle the life cycle of hardware assets, including their procurement, maintenance, warranty and disposal. This includes processes such as reclaiming assets(we call it return asset)

To access Inventory > Asset Reclamation > Asset Reclamation Requests, you would typically need the HAM module activated in your instance. If you don't see it either in App Navigator or SAM Workspace, it's likely because HAM isn't active.

Before proceeding with the OOB - Asset Reclaim catalog, you'd need to evaluate whether SAM alone meets your needs for handling asset reclamation or if enabling HAM could provide additional necessary functionality.

One thing I can tell you Asset reclamation request are completely handled by flow designer and business rules , if your client does not wants to enable HAM you can configure for them but yes it may be time consuming , so I would say go for OOTB solution always.

Thanks

If you don't have HAM, you will need to manually update the location and asset state once the asset is returned to stock, but this is the only limitation.

So in summary what I under is that without hardware asset management the full functionality of the catalog
 Asset Reclamation  cannot be leveraged.

But what I do not understand is why this is menu module not available to me on Application Navigator
Inventory > Asset Reclamation > Asset Reclamation Requests

If there is a limited functionality available with SAM (w/o HAM) then why is the menu module not available to someone with SAM ( and not HAM).

Hello @Saurav ,

I can see this , can you please check with the inventory_user role. I have seen the Asset reclamation requests module visibility is controlled by inventory_user role. Its worth providing this role to the users and check whether they can see this module. But I still feel asset reclamation request can run efficiently with HAM plugin enabled.

Thanks
