Is there a way to override the notification/satisfy the Override License Cost when your product truly has no cost?

Which notification and which license are you talking about? Please elaborate your question.

Any software model with entitlements, if you do not have an Override License Cost set, will display a banner message when you go into the model indicating "Warning: Override license costs have not been specified for the '(PingOne) Customer Identities' license metric. Average entitlement cost will be used for true-up calculation." See attached
Is there someway to turn this notification off where applicable or has anyone found a way for it to accept 0.00 as a valid cost?

That's a question for your Platform Admin. They should be able to provide guidance on whether this notification can be disabled.

This is a common governance challenge in Software Asset Management (SAM). The core issue is differentiating between 'missing data' and a 'legitimate zero-cost value.'
From an Enterprise Architecture perspective, the platform generates these notifications to protect the integrity of financial compliance calculations. However, when a product is truly free (such as Open Source or freeware), the goal is to satisfy the system's data validation without polluting the dashboards with 'false-positive' exceptions.
Effective approaches to manage this include:
-
Explicit Zero-Value Entitlement: Instead of leaving the field blank, the best practice is to create the Software Entitlement with a cost of 0.00. This explicitly documents that the cost was reviewed and confirmed as zero, satisfying the system's requirement for a numerical value.
-
License Type Classification: Ensure the 'License Type' is correctly set to 'Open Source' or 'Freeware'. In many SAM versions, this classification helps the engine understand the context of the missing financial liability.
-
Data Governance Insight: As emphasized in the Now Create methodology, the focus should be on Value-Oriented Implementation. If the system is constantly flagging zero-cost products as errors, it obscures real audit risks. Removing this 'noise' is essential for maintaining a clean and trustworthy Executive Dashboard.
------------------------
