Is there a way to order bulk software models using a catalog item?
Thanks.

Hi @HarshiniReddy,
There is no OOTB capability to bulk order Software Models directly from the Software Model (cmdb_software_product_model) table.
Software requests are intended to be fulfilled through:
- Catalog Items
- Order Guides
- Software Request workflows
If you need bulk ordering,
- A Catalog Item with an MRVS (Multi-Row Variable Set) to select multiple software models, or
- An Order Guide that bundles multiple software requests into a single submission.
So:
OOTB bulk ordering directly from Software Models is not supported.
Use Catalog-based request fulfillment (Catalog Item + MRVS or Order Guide) as documented by ServiceNow.

You can explore these options:
- Order Guide: An Order Guide can be configured to bundle multiple Request Items (RITMs) into a single request experience. This enables users to request multiple users, devices, or software titles in one submission, while the system automatically creates separate RITMs for each item.
- Multi-Row Variable Sets (MRVS): Add an MRVS to your SAM catalog item to provide a tabular input format. Users can enter multiple records, with each row capturing details such as the user, device, cost center, or other relevant information.
- Bulk Import / Transform Maps: For large-scale migrations involving thousands of software requests, Import Sets and Transform Maps offer an efficient backend processing approach. This method supports bulk data loading and automated record creation at scale.

Hi @pr8172510 @Tanushree Maiti ,
Thanks for your response. But, What I’m looking for is, in HAM we have Hardware Inventory Stock Order, which allows us to order bulk hardware of a single model into a stockroom. Similarly, in SAM, instead of stockroom-based ordering, is there any option to order bulk software licenses?

Hi @HarshiniReddy,
In that context, No, SAM does not have an OOTB equivalent of HAM's Hardware Inventory Stock Order for bulk software license ordering.
software licenses are managed through:
- Software Entitlements
- Contracts
- Procurement processes
- Subscription records
rather than a stockroom inventory model.
So if you purchase 500 Microsoft Visio licenses, you would generally create/import an entitlement with quantity 500 rather than creating a stock order record similar to HAM.
