SAM_ Discovery map Issue

Hi Team,

The software models are being created through the SCCM and Intune integrations. During my review, I identified more than 250 software models that do not have a Discovery Map associated with them. Additionally, some models are missing Publisher and Product details.

At this point, I am unable to determine the root cause of these incomplete records. Could anyone please advise on the possible reason for this issue and the recommended approach to correct these software model entries? My concern is that these inconsistencies may lead to inaccurate reconciliation results in the future.

Please note that software entitlements have not yet been imported into ServiceNow SAM. I would like to resolve these software model issues before proceeding with the entitlement import.

Please find the below screenshot for your reference.

Thank you.

Hi @Jhansi LN,

This usually happens when:

  • normalization is incomplete
  • discovery models are created before normalization runs
  • SCCM/Intune raw software names do not match Content Library patterns
  • Content Service / Normalization Data Services are outdated

Because of this:

  • Publisher/Product remain empty
  • Discovery Map is not generated
  • reconciliation accuracy can be impacted later

  1. Verify Content Library updates Software Asset → Administration → Content Library Dashboard
Ensure latest normalization content is installed.

     2.Verify Normalization status Check samp_sw_product_map

           and normalization logs.

       3.Run normalization again

          Use: Normalize discovery models

              job after SCCM/Intune import.

       4.Review unmatched software

Navigate: Software Asset → Administration → Unrecognized Software

Map missing products manually if required.

5.Do NOT import entitlements yet  fix normalization first before reconciliation and entitlement import.
