SAM Pro - Modifying the License type and Metric when using Publisher Part Numbers.

I believe I have identified an issue in our environment where a SAM has created a number of Entitlements using PPNs but has modified the license type and or license metric entries on the entitlements, rather than creating a custom PPN and requesting we submit a content request.

We're currently seeing Partially completed Reconciliation results and I believe this could be part of the cause. Does this sound like a plausible related cause?

Hi @Bill Girard1 ,

Of course, yes, this could be the reason. Entitlements created based on a PPN are not locked and can be adjusted by a SAM Manager anytime.

Not supported or incorrect combinations for the metric (from a Publisher Pack view) can cause incorrect results. As you said, custom PPN and/or content requests based on a proof is the way to go.

would you please do kind to share a few examples of the changes and recon issues you are facing with

Thanks Dennis,

It turned out to be related to a known issue. KB2218863.

However, I'm glad you confirmed they shouldn't be modifying anything already set on the PPN.  I don't think I would have ever caught that change, had I not been trying to find why we were getting the partial reconcile for IBM, but I couldn't narrow it down to a specific Software Model.

I'll be reminding them to not change those and submit a request.  Simple enough that way, but easy to see it could cause a bit of havoc modifying them and expecting different results.
