SAM Pro SaaS Management – SSO integration and IntegrationHub spokes

Hi everyone,

We have recently implemented ServiceNow SAM Pro, and post-implementation we realized that we are largely blind on most SaaS applications, except Adobe and Microsoft, which were already integrated and are showing data correctly.

We have now confirmed that SaaS License Management is included with our SAM Pro license, but we are still unclear on how to correctly proceed to get visibility and value from the SaaS module.

Specifically, we are confused about the following points:

  1. SSO / Identity Integration

    • We understand that integrating SSO (e.g. Azure AD / Okta) is required to get SaaS application and user data.

    • Does SSO integration alone populate SaaS dashboards and reports in SAM Pro?

    • What exact capabilities does SaaS Management provide with only SSO integration (no spokes)?

  2. IntegrationHub Spokes

    • We have been advised that for some applications (e.g. Salesforce), we need to purchase IntegrationHub spokes to get visibility.

    • Are these spokes mandatory for SaaS Management to work?

    • Or are spokes only required for deep usage data, while basic SaaS governance and dashboards can work without them?

  3. Expected Outcome

    • Our goal is to understand whether the correct approach is:

      • First implement SSO-based discovery to enable SaaS dashboards and access-based governance and also to understand whether its enough in most of the SaaS cases.

      • Then selectively evaluate IntegrationHub spokes only for high-cost or critical SaaS applications

At the moment, it is not clear to us whether SaaS Management requires both SSO and spokes, or whether spokes are optional enhancements.

Any guidance from teams who have successfully implemented SAM Pro SaaS Management would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
