SAM Software Entitlements fields: Rights per license pack, number of packs, unit cost

The Orlando release of SAM Professional added 2 new fields to the Software Entitlement form:

  • Rights per license Pack
  • Number of packs

When our consultants build the import file with a per core license metric, they may only see the price per pack from the contract or purchase order. In the entitlement form now, the total cost is the unit value*rights per license pack*number of packs=400

The desired total cost should be Number of packs* (cost per pack).

Total = 200.

Unit cost =5.

The changed calculation based on these available fields would prevent a manual calculation error. Are any other SAM practitioners having an issue with this? I seek feedback from the community if this is a necessary or useful modification. Any further direction is much appreciated. Thank you.

These fields affects the pricing calculation of Microsoft Per Core or Microsoft Per Core with CAL.

But, I had adjusted to it by dividing the unit cost of 2 core license pack into 2.

Then I still got the correct total cost, I think SAM Pro should have some notes on how the unit cost is really defined depending on the license product.
