In Instance there before the software models were not created automatically, Then I got to know that there is system property for Software asset management .
After opting this all the software models got created automatically based on software discovery models.
But some models have assigned the discovery map while creating model. for ex: this model has dicovery map
But the model which created along with the same process how above got created doesnt have a discovery map.
Is this a normal behaviour? Is there anything i am missing out? Or there any property or functionality i need to make enable for this.
Is this should be done manually?
And this automatic creation of models causing multiple software models for same softwares with slight version change.
like 5.0 , 5.1 5.2 etc...
PLease share any references , links , where i can see best practices fro SAM

This is a normal behavior as you may not have discovery map defined for Microsoft SQL Server 2008.You need to crate one for SQL 2008 or modify the one for SQL 2012 to say that it applies to all SQL versions (2008 and 2012)
I have similar examples too
Please refer to my following article for details on discovery and software reconciliation

But I see that there is a discovery map defined for "Microsoft SQL" Server with any version , any platform, any language.
This should map to that right.
And i See some models even though there is specific version model is available also its not mapped to the discovery mapped instead its directly mapped to discovery models.

Multiple software discovery models can be associated to one software model. If there are two separate installs of this product (version 10.1 and version 10.2), two discovery models are created. One of the discovery models has the discovered version set to 10.1, and the other discovery model has the discovered version set to 10.2. The reconciliation process associates both of these discovery models to the same software model since they both meet the version criterion of Starts with 10.
Can you please paste screenshots of the two entries you gave in your question from Software Discovery Model table, and a screenshot of your discovery map that would normalize the date from software discovery model table to software model ?

hi there, we are experiencing the same thing with missing discovery maps \.
How do we create a custom discovery map?
