Can discovered item record gets changed on a vulnerability ?

I want to understand that can a discovered item record that is already attached to vulnerable item be changed with a different discovered item , If yes then what can be the reason for discovered item to get update , OR is it like once Discovered item is attached to VI then it will never change .

The Discovered Item should not change on the Vulnerable Item.  The configuration item on the Discovered Item and the Vulnerable Item change can but that is usually a result of re-applying the lookup rules, or when Discovery/IRE change the configuration item
