I have put down my thoughts on how to handle Incomplete IP Identified Devices.

I would like to hear your ideas on this topic. How is your organization handling them?

@Chris, You really bring thought-provoking reality topics to the forum. I personally feel very connected to the points you bring. Thanks for bringing up these

This is one of the core areas, or won’t sound pessimistic if we mention challenges, any team implementing SecOps faces. It does also uncover a few glaring gaps on what the discovery is populating CMDB v/s real infrastructure environment. As a ServiceNow SecOps team often we observe this turn into a struggle between two of the organization's internal teams. That brings us to your golden suggestion “Executive Sponsor” unless it comes internally in a top-down manner in most cases these just remain as conversation topics on the table.

So... (I know this sounds crazy) I am lucky to be retained by one of the largest global companies for a very long period of time—everything in this paper I am doing with success.
VR is your canary in a coal mine. It will uncover your organization's gaps and bad practices.
This is NOT a bad thing. Companies should embrace VR as a check on how well their teams are doing in maintaining an accurate AND complete inventory. It will also highlight the teams that are not cooperating or disengaged.
I know people are struggling with this, so I wanted to share what I have learned along the way.
