I have put down my thoughts on how to handle Incomplete IP Identified Devices.

I would like to hear your ideas on this topic. How is your organization handling them?

Hello Chris,

 

Usually an unmatched Discovered Item from class "Incomplete IP Identified Devices" is pointing at a record from the table cmdb_ci_incomplete_ip -> Both the DI and the CI record in the cmdb_ci_incomplete_ip get created upon ingestion.

 

After a while, either from an improved lookup rule or some other improvement, the Discovered Item gets successfully matched and it starts pointing to another CI -> the actual CI from the cmdb_ci table, which makes the initial CI of the class "Incomplete IP Identified Devices" actually orphaned.

 

Do you have any suggestion on how to keep and maintain the cmdb_ci_incomplete_ip table from orphaned records?
