How to update Service Catalog item without loosing previous values?

We recently run in an issue: due to changes in Service Catalog item (UI and field value changes), we lost all historical values of the same catalog. We changed service selection option and input fields names. Now, if I open older requests, I see black, except for one field that had zero change. 

 

This, of course, is a major issue for auditability - if there is a risk that updates/changes in Service Catalog retroactively affects older requests, we cannot rely on Catalog request for audit purposes.

 

Is there anything we can do, or have missed, that would prevent changes affecting previous Catalog requests?

Hi ameirens,

Can you give some example what kind of UI and field value changes?

Until and unless you r deleting catalog variables, Old data should be intact as those are readOnly.
