Will ServiceNow cease support for Incident Tasks?

Hi all, 

 

At one of my clients (rather large multinational) where we use ServiceNow as the ITSM platform, we received a note mentioning that the use of incident tasks will be retired within +/- 6 months. Our ServiceNow support team informs us that the main reason behind this, is that ServiceNow will cease to support incident tasks in the near future. 

I'm a bit skeptical (understatement) of this information because I can't find any official information on incident task retirement. I also can't believe SNOW ill retire such a basic function in their platform. 

 

 

- I can't find anything in the combined release notes (https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/vancouver-sandiego-df3/page/release-notes/rn-combined/vancouver-s...

- In DEV instances for Utah & Vancouver I still see incident tasks available out-of-the-box

 

Did anyone hear from this or does anyone know where I can find official documentation about this?

Might that have been an organizational change and not a platform change? In other words, was someone talking about how their organization was no longer going to use incident tasks and asking about alternatives?
