Arrange favorites in folders?

Hi,

A question I'm getting more often is 'Can we arrange favorites in folders?". I was not able to find a solution, so I think it's not possible, but... anyone with an idea how to do this?

Kind regards,

Gerard Wijnands

Hi Grerad,

I don't think it's possible to have favorites in folder,   workaround is having Fav Icon common for those which you want in a Folder. This way it is easy to identify favorites of a particular type.

We are currently using London, but this functionality was included in the prior release as well.  The functionality seems a little hidden, which is odd, but here is what I've discovered.

  1. In the navigation bar search for Folders.
    find_real_file.png

  2. From here you can create new folders to organize your favorites.

  3. Refresh Servicenow.

  4. In the navigation bar search for Favorites.
    find_real_file.png

  5. Select the favorite you want to add to a folder and edit it to set the Folder (Group) you want it nested under, as well as the position in the folder list.

  6. Refresh Servicenow.

Be advised that they don't work as well when the navigation bar is collapsed.  See my post Favorites Folders and Favorites Names Not Displaying When Collapsed.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your post. In my companies environment there is no such thing as "Manage Favorites" or "Folders". I've looked it my OOTB developers instance and there isn't it either. I guess you have a plugin or app enabled. Is that possible?

Kind regards,

Gerard

Not sure if there is a plugin for it but the functionality seems to be there OOTB (Tables and UI) however, the Application menu and Modules shown on screenshot are probably custom because I don't see any module for this OOTB.

The bookmark groups are stored in the sys_ui_bookmark_group table. And there is a field in the bookmarks (sys_ui_bookmark) that is referencing this table. The functionality was documented in Geneva release notes but never elsewhere which is probably uncompleted development. https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/geneva-release-notes/page/release-notes/servicenow_platform/r_UserInterfaceRN.html

To use them you probably have to setup Application Menu, Modules, Form Layout and ACL as none of them are correctly configured for this use. However the UI16 seems to work well with it.

This really would be nice, in Madrid there is no Manage Favorites, Favorites, etc to work with.
