Hi,
I am trying to create Business service maps manually. Which would be used to understand the application dependencies and to analyze impact
while creating incidents and changes.
Totally confused on where to start. When I goto Configuration -> Business Services -> New. It is showing options to relate items and to view BSM.
Not able to understand the option "Convert to manual". For testing purpose I have converted it to Manual..now i see option to "View Map",
how is this different from BSM?
Why the views are different from "View map" and BSM?

I do have a similar question. I have created the service map but the views are different when i clicked on view map & BSM views? Do we require any settings to view the as is map in view map which is created in service mapping? Any suggestions ?

There are 3 different tables for business services.
cmdb_ci_service
cmdb_ci_service_discovered
cmdb_ci_service_manual
BSM (Dependency Views) does speak about CI relationships. Business service is also a CI, so it shows the related items of Business services in table "cmdb_ci_service".
Table "cmdb_ci_service_discovered" actually contains BS that are created using ServiceMapping plugin. these will not have any BSM views..all it shows in BSM view is just the BS with no further links. But Map is shown only from SericeMapping application.
Table "cmdb_ci_service_manual", contains the BS CIs that are created directly in "cmdb_ci_service" and converted to Manual. BSM is also available as it was a Business service CI. and Manual Map is available from Event Management application.

Thank you Rakesh for the detailed information. In this case i will never get a CI relationship view in CMDB for my business service without using service mapping app... then whats the use of dependency views if we are not able to get the relationship which got discovered using SM plugin?

I agree to this, if the Service Mapping business services are not showing the Dependency view in normal business services map than what's the use of Service Mapping? The purpose of SM was to build the service map in top down approach instead of horizontal discovery. Is there a way we can sort this out?
We are planning to use the Service Mapping and i have few questions:
1. How does the new Business Services (cmdb_ci_service_discovered) affect the existing business services available in the CMDB business services?
2. When we use the Service Mapping it does not allow us to create Business Service with the same name. How do we change existing BS to Service Mapping BS?
3. How do we map Service Offerings to Service Mapping Business Services. Is there a link available between Business Services Portfolio and Service Mapping Business Services?
4. Can the Service Mapping Business Services be selected in the Incident records and will it display the BSM / Dependency View based on the service mapping discovery?
