Hi Experts,

Is it possible to send encrypted mail with ServiceNow? I have gone through a few community links which say ServiceNow does not support it.

Has anyone tried it?

Any help on the topic is much Appreciated

Thanks,

Raj

Hello,

You can send encrypted emails to ServiceNow all you want, but ServiceNow will not be able to read the encrypted email.

Yes, I've tried it.

Unfortunately, no, it doesn't get read properly. It has text (whatever another person would see who can't unencrypt your email), but your inbound action won't be able to see the actual contents and do anything with it.

ServiceNow would have no way to unencrypt your email and if your company auto-encrypts emails, it recommended for your email team to ensure they're sent unencrypted to ServiceNow.

Hello Allen,

Thank you for the response.

I understand that sending encrypted emails to ServiceNow is not possible. But I was looking the other way. Is it possible to send encrypted emails from ServiceNow?

Thanks,

Raj

Hello,

Ok, to that question, it's also no. You can't send encrypted emails (beyond TLS) from ServiceNow.

So to recap you "can" send encrypted emails to ServiceNow...they just won't be unencrypted. You can't send encrypted emails from ServiceNow, ServiceNow doesn't encrypt them beyond TLS.

"Encrypt mail with opportunistic TLS (Transport Layer Security) if supported by your mail servers. If your internal mail servers send and receive messages via a TLS-encrypted channel, ServiceNow mail servers support that communication."

Hi Allen,

Thank you for the response again. I was looking if someone has already implemented the solution for this use case and posted the query here.

Thanks,

Raj
