Good morning!
We are a K-12 school district currently using ITSM & HRSM to manage staff (teachers, administrators & corporate) support and requests across 7 departments. We are at a point where we need to look at assigning IT assets directly to students, and are thinking about how students might engage with department services (mostly IT or custom).
I'm curious how other districts have set up their students? Internal/external user? Service Portal/ITSM or Service Portal/CSM?
Thanks for any feedback 😊
Kristin

Hi @Kristin J - I am also looking for the answer to this. Can I know what did you end up with on this?
Thanks,
Sachin

Hello! I haven't ended up anywhere only because we haven't moved it forward yet. But after discussion with our advisor we landed on using the B2C data model in CSM, and plan to set students as Consumers. This will allow us to at minimum attach software/hardware assets to them when applicable, and also allow to extend to support cases if required.
If you use that with a K-12 use case and it works, let me know and boost my confidence lol 🙂

Hi Kristin, curious if you've move forward on this yet. I'm working on similar where we've started with ITSM but considering layering CSM on top. To start, since students were already in AD we created user accounts for them just to assign assets to support them ITSM functions. Students aren't directly requesting services however--that's where CSM would come in.
Also curious how you set up the "requests across 7 departments" just using ITSM and HR.
