Hi Lilla,
The padlock would show up on encrypted attachments. When you attach a file you have the option to encrypt it and this will cause attachments to appear with a padlock.
Please let me know if this answers your questions.

Fares

Hey Lilla,
To expand on the response from Fares, while the attachment is indeed encrypted, you can still access the encrypted attachment that has a padlock symbol displayed on it when you are presented with the "[rename] [view] options as you shared in your screen capture. The reason you can, is because you have a role to which is a member of the encryption context used to encrypt the attachment. If your user account did not have a role using an encryption context used to encrypt the attachments, then those files with the padlock icon would not be included in the list of attachments. For the benefit of you and the ServiceNow community, your question is specific to the Encryption Support plugin. More information on encrypting an attachment with the Encryption Support plugin is at this link. More information in general about the Encryption Support plugin is available at this link.
Worth mentioning since this question is in the Edge Encryption category is that Edge Encryption handles encryption differently than the Encryption Support plugin, in that encryption contexts and roles are not used. Using your example, with Edge Encryption, when a file is encrypted with Edge Encryption, no padlock icon is used for encrypted attachments. You would be able to access the file directly when connecting through an Edge Encryption proxy server. However, if you bypassed an Edge Encryption proxy server, you would only see the name of each attachment, but would not be able to view or download it. Additionally, you could automatically encrypt a file when connecting through an Edge Encryption proxy server without having to remember to manually to check a checkbox to encrypt a file attachment. More information on Edge Encryption is at this link.
I hope this helps in answering your question and wasn't too much information. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or comments.
Kind regards,
Mike
