removing snow license

Hi All,

i hope everyone is ok.

Quick an easy question.

I would like to release licenses in now platform because people left the company. I know that the best way of doing it is removing the itil role from the person. Since the role is assigned to a group and the person is linked to a group, i would naturally remove the support staff from the group.

Question is, will this affect the data consistency? ie. will the support staff removed from the group remain in the incident records as assigned to?

Hi @cuchi 

I already answered your question: "If you don't remove the respective user record from table sys_user everything will work as before."

So best practice is to deactivate the user (remove "active" flag) instead of deleting its record from sys_user table. This way the name is still visible in the referencing tickets.

Hi

No, removing a role has no impacts on data consistency. If you don't remove the respective user record from table sys_user everything will work as before.

And the user which don't have any roles anymore cannot do anything any longer.

thank you very much for your comment.

my question was more oriented to what happens if i remove the leaving support staff from the group.

By doing this his license will be removed, but i am not sure if his name will remain in the tickets.

i cannot loose his name from his old tickets.

I have followed your instructions but overnight the users ServiceNow account get re-activated as they sync with our LDAP server?

 

Is there anything you can advise please?
