Do you want to secure your forms and records in ServiceNow?

I am here to help you to become a security expert in a matter of three steps.

In this post, I will break down into three steps on how you can successfully secure your forms.

Let us dive in!

Step One: Before creating an ACL it is important to create ServiceNow user groups and attach a role in to that group.

Users inside a group will automatically inherit the rights created and as your users grow it will be easier for you to manage. Either you provision, or de-provision access.

Step Two: Create four user roles and groups at a minimum. Security is a zero trust culture, you will start from no access followed by the following respectively; Read Only, Edit, Create and finally Delete rights. This is called white listing. Users will require to be a member of each group to be able to do the necessary operations necessary.

Step three: You are now ready to create an ACL. Directly relate the operations with the created roles in user administration it will give you full control and visibility of what your users can do or cannot do.

Software by design requires decoupling: removing direct dependence. Giving you more control of the different components and services. Resulting to a clean, manageable and a secure platform.

I have a created a video for better clarity. Here is how: ServiceNow Security: How to Establish Control in a Form Using ServiceNow Access Control List
