Unable to add variable editor to demand record

I am trying to add the variable editor to my demand records created by a specific catalog item.  I created the variable editor and added it to the form, I updated the macro to get the sys id of the catalog item of the current record when the demand is the current record.  When the record loads, no variables show within the variable editor section.

Adding the variable editor to other tables is not recommended and it may cause perfomance impact.

I've got this information from SN team (also don't update the OOB macro)
