Using Multiple Service Portals

For all using HELSINKI and the Service Portal-

As most know, a Service Portal references ONE Catalog and ONE Knowledge Base. I've tried to setup a single Service Portal to reference all Catalogs but it was far too difficult and out of my area of expertise to tweak and modify all the code in the widgets. So instead, I've decided to create separate portals. I have a Business Services and Technical Services catalogs, each having their own Portal now. I also created a third portal (without a designated catalog) which will be the landing page, at which a user will select which portal to go into using the Icon Link widget. However, I'm not sure if this is the right way of going about it. I'm having difficulties referencing the different Service Portals- Not sure if I should be using a URL or Page reference.

Has anyone done this? If so, is this the right route to go? Can you link another portal within one?

Looking for any insight here!

Thank you,

Curious if anyone has hacked this type of solution together now.   Would really like this functionality early 2017 instead of late.   Anyone?

It seems that the portal team are going to support multiple KBs in one portal and user criteria in the Jakarta release.

That would be good although possibly too late for my organisation which might want things separating out before then, although they may decide to stick with CMS until they can get what they want

So it is my understanding that Istanbul will support multiple portals for the various KB's and Catalogs.

That beings said, I went the same route that you did, creating a portal landing page, Similar to CMS's landing page with all of the Catalogs

I created icon links that would go to the individual portals seamlessly using the url "https://yourinstance.service-now.com/sp_portal_page_name

I also added a back icon link that would take the users back to the landing page.

This seems to be working well and the basic functionality allows users to focus on the items that they require without distractions
