Hi everyone,
I am looking for some clarification on the exact purpose of the "Contributors" field on the BIA record (sn_bia_analysis).
I noticed that users added to this field cannot add new dependencies to the BIA. When I checked the dictionary, I saw that this field is actually extended from the task table and its original underlying label is "Additional assignee list".
Given that, what can users in the Contributors field actually do in the context of a BIA? Why is it there out-of-the-box, and how have you seen this field utilized in real-world BCM implementations?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi @Mira1992
Contributors field designates individuals who collaborate on a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) or Continuity Plan. Contributors are responsible for providing data, assessing impact categories, and updating work notes without having the authority to approve the plan.
"
What role does a BIA Contributor have?
The BIA owner typically contacts business teams/ experts (BIA contributor role: sn_bia.bia_contributor) to seek feedback on the BIA and keep it relevant and up to date.
What role does the contributor have in updating the BIA?
The contributor role can update impact category results, RPO analysis responses, dependency group states, and work notes in the Activity section.
What kind of BIA maintenance is required once BCM implementation goes live?
You must define the frequency for BIA updates and approvals. This step is essential for gauging the level of participation needed from BIA contributors and for planning an effective maintenance process. You should be able to answer the following questions:
- How often should BIAs and plans be updated and approved?
- How often should plans be exercised? (This response helps determine the level of effort required of exercise participants and program owners to create new recovery events.)"
