Here are few responsibilities for Presale & Sales person which also matters and changes with the organization but most common are listed:
- Assist the sales personnel in the qualification of customer needs and performing pre-demo needs analysis
- Assess the customer's strategic needs and uncover the business requirements
- Gather the appropriate information to generate the proposal with the proper service components, pricing and assumptions
- Staying current on competitive analysis and understanding differentiators between the company and its competitors
- Responsible for understanding business and technical problems addressed by the solutions including key regulations, business drivers, evolving business needs, security, and etc

- Knowledge of IT Service Management and IT Workflow capabilities, processes and best practice; to demonstrate in pre-sales how ServiceNow delivers in the IT Workflow to achieve the customers objectives.
- ServiceNow consulting experience, including technical pre-sales experience, to bring to life ServiceNow solutions.
- Excellent team working, being able to work with virtual teams to deliver the right customer solution.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and logical thinking ability, with superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including facilitation skills.
- Experienced with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, documentation and managing client and stakeholders.
- Exhibits high degree of technical expertise and understanding of solutions involving ServiceNow.
- Able to demonstrate Computacenter’s ‘Winning Together’ Values in how they approach work.
- Be outgoing and customer facing.
- Be capable of working with customers and stakeholders and managing their expectations.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
- Experience of working with ServiceNow in a Managed Service Provider environment delivering ServiceNow pre-sales as part of a wider Managed Service solution.
- ITIL Foundation, Intermediate or Expert Certifications.
- Pre-sales experience of more than ITSM capability in the IT Workflow; ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, ITBM, IRM.
- Experience of ServiceNow Customer Workflows & ServiceNow Employee Workflow.
- Experience of delivering ServiceNow pre-sales solutions alongside complementary technology, vendors and integrations.
- Enterprise Architecture (Strategy, Planning, Standards) applied in a pre-sales environment.
- Experience of other IT Service Management toolsets and complementary technologies.

- Produce compelling sales proposals/commercial and technical documentation outlining the cost savings and business benefits to clients of using ServiceNow
- Assume responsibility for running a solution bid team, where relevant Interfacing with the implementation / project team, articulating customer requirements, to ensure a smooth transition from Sale to Deliver
- Ability to demonstrate ServiceNow products and technologies effectively to audiences of varied technical knowledge

One of the main reasons is to analyze the market and develop a plan that will generate more sales and better visibility of possible future clients. Moreover, they are the ones that should deal with all the papers and contracts about this topic. At least, that's what I was doing in the previous company I was working for. However, each company has different expectations from their workers so the conditions might differ slightly.
