Yes, it looks like there has been a change in the policy. However, I’m not sure whether this applies to all exams or only to specific exams.. This is what happened in my experience.
I appeared for the exam and unfortunately failed on my first attempt. When I opened the exam again, I could see that it was showing as my 2nd attempt, and there was no fee to retake it.
So, it’s worth checking your exam status. Go to “My Exams” and see if you can see the 2nd attempt option. Click on it and check whether it shows as free or if there is a fee.
