Hi Community,

Recently, I’ve been paying closer attention to ServiceNow release notes while upgrading my Personal Developer Instance, and it made me realize how much we can learn just by reviewing platform updates carefully.

A few observations:

• Each release family often introduces subtle behavior changes, not just new features
• Performance improvements and UI updates sometimes impact existing configurations
• Deprecated features can affect long-term maintainability
• Patch updates can quietly fix issues that many assume are configuration problems

Even in a personal learning environment, reviewing release notes helped me better understand how the platform evolves and why upgrade-safe design matters.

It also reinforced that staying current isn’t just about being on the latest version — it’s about understanding what changed between versions.

Question to the community:

How do you usually approach release upgrades? Do you review every family release in detail?

Looking forward to hearing your approach.

Hi @srikanthmadabhu,

Great points!!!👍

Just exploring the PDI gives a lot of knowledge; it helps you to understand quickly the changes, even if they are too small to notice.

My recommendations:

Go through the documentation of each release version.

Before going through the direct latest updated version, go through it sequentially and be responsible while attempting to make the change, unless you have explored your current version and understood it carefully and practically.

Let me know your opinion on this. 😀
