Add multiple records in related list

Hi Experts, 

I want to build a funcitonality for my custom request (Table) to add multiple controls in m2m related list from the "controls" refernece table, similar to Add Affected CIs functionality on incident form. 

I am trying to copy the logic but not able to achieve the results, pls let me know if someone has build this for any of your use cases.
