Beginner stuck because of PDI waitlist – Need guidance and a roadmap

yesterday
I'm a complete beginner in ServiceNow and recently started learning the fundamentals through YouTube videos. I now understand the basic concepts, navigation, and how the platform works at a beginner level.
My next plan was to create a Personal Developer Instance (PDI) so I could start practicing hands-on. Unfortunately, my PDI request has been placed on the waitlist. I understand this is a common issue, but I'm feeling stuck because I don't know what I should focus on while waiting.
I don't want to waste this time. Could anyone guide me on what I should learn next without having access to a PDI?
Some questions I have are:
What topics should I study while waiting for my PDI?
Is there a recommended beginner roadmap that takes me from fundamentals to being job-ready?
Which resources (ServiceNow University, documentation, YouTube channels, blogs, etc.) would you recommend?
Are there any hands-on alternatives to a PDI that I can use for practice?
My goal is to become job-ready as quickly as possible, but right now I feel lost because I don't have a clear learning path.
I would really appreciate any advice, roadmap, or resources from experienced ServiceNow developers.
Thank you!

Don't worry—this is quite common at the moment.
Over the past few days, many community members have reported delays when requesting a PDI. In some cases, the waiting period has been 6–7 days or even longer, especially for lower ServiceNow versions.
You can try requesting an instance on an earlier release, such as Zurich or an older version, but there may still be a waiting period due to high demand.
For now, patience is the best approach, as PDI availability depends on overall demand and ServiceNow's infrastructure capacity.

This is a very valid question, and for hands-on learning, you definitely need to start with the basics.
You can begin with the official courses available on the ServiceNow Learning / Developer site:
- https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/learn/learning-plans/australia/servicenow_administrator
These learning paths will help you build a strong foundation in ServiceNow.
You can also follow my channel, where I share a lot of content related to ServiceNow and ITIL, which will help you in your learning journey.
In the meantime, it is also recommended to read about ITIL and Agile concepts, as these are widely used in real-world ServiceNow implementations.
Additionally, you can explore JavaScript basics, as scripting plays an important role in ServiceNow development and administration.

Here are a few tips:
-
Follow this master playlist to strengthen your JavaScript skills specifically for the ServiceNow platform.
https://youtu.be/62Nabpb94Jw?
-
Spend at least 1–2 hours daily on the ServiceNow Community. Observe the kinds of technical questions being asked and how experienced members respond. You’ll learn a lot passively this way—and I highly encourage you to start answering questions as well. Explaining concepts to others will improve your technical thinking and deepen your understanding.
-
Explore the free courses available on the ServiceNow Developer Site. These are practical and focused, and will help you apply your knowledge directly on the platform.

Many community members are facing the same issue.
Due to high demand following a new platform family release, PDI pools for the Australia version are currently experiencing errors or waitlisting. These days lots of similar issue reported.
I will suggest you to Wait for PDI request to be provisioned if your request is already waitlisted. Do not cancel your request, as you will lose your spot.
Support is not available for PDI .
Note:You can try releasing your current request and requesting an earlier version (e.g., Zurich ), as they may have more availability . But Community members reported that there is also having waitlist issue.
