Hi Buddy,
In ServiceNow, a CI and an Asset are connected but there not the same thing.
A Configuration Item (CI) lives in the CMDB and is used for operations. It represents anything that supports an IT service — servers, applications, databases, network devices, cloud resources, etc. CIs are used for incident, change, impact analysis, and service mapping.
An Asset is used for lifecycle and financial tracking. It represents something the company owns or manages — laptops, servers, licenses, contracts, and equipment. Asset records track procurement, cost, warranty, depreciation, and ownership.
In many cases, the same device has both:
the Asset tracks it from a financial and inventory perspective
the CI tracks how it supports services and operations
But it’s not always one-to-one. For example i seen:
A cloud application can be a CI with no asset.
Spare hardware in storage can be an asset with no CI.

Hi @sidharthaa
CI is more for the technical / operational perspective, while Asset is more from business/financial perspective.
One and the very same device can be both a CI as well as an asset. Just each is focusing on different details.
Asset - licences, maintenance and operational costs, procurement, warranties, lifecycle (in use, stolen, retired, lost, etc)...
CI - dependencies and relationship between your devices, e.g. what computers are running on what servers.
For more details, search the SN University or read the official Docs: Asset and CI management

Hoi @sidharthaa
Asset:
Any resource or capability, including anything that could contribute to the delivery of a service.
Assets Include:
- Hardware
- Software Licenses
- Buildings
- Consumables
- Equipment – especially in Data Centers
Configuration Item (CI): Any computer, device, software, or service in the CMDB. A CI's record will include all of the relevant data, such as manufacturer, vendor, location, etc. Configuration items can be created or maintained either using tables, lists, and forms within the platform, or using the Discovery application.
