Hi Community,

I created a UI Action for my custom TierServe 360 Case table.

When I try to use the UI Action, I get the following error:

"Unable to find UI Action with name 'undefined' on table 'x_snc_telecom_cu_0_customer_service_case'."

The error occurs when I try to execute the UI Action on the TierServe 360 Case record.

I checked the UI Action, but the system is still trying to find a UI Action with the name 'undefined'.

Could you please help me identify why the UI Action name is being passed as undefined and how to fix it?

I have attached the screenshot of the error for reference.

Thanks.

Hi,

The undefined in the error is the main clue here. It usually means the UI Action is being invoked with an undefined Action name, rather than ServiceNow simply being unable to find the UI Action because of scope.

Check the custom UI Action on your x_snc_telecom_cu_0_customer_service_case table and verify that the Action name field is populated.

For example:

Name: Create Something
Action name: create_something

If the UI Action is being called through gsftSubmit(), make sure the third parameter matches the Action name exactly:

gsftSubmit(null, g_form.getFormElement(), 'create_something');

Do not leave the third parameter as a variable that can evaluate to undefined.

Also check whether the UI Action has both Client and Server scripts. A common pattern is:

if (typeof window == 'undefined')
    serverAction();

function serverAction() {
    // server-side logic
}

 and the client-side execution calls:

gsftSubmit(null, g_form.getFormElement(), 'create_something');

If the Action name is populated correctly and the error still occurs, then check the application scope. ServiceNow allows UI Actions to run on tables in another scope only when the target table permits UI Actions from that application scope.

You can therefore troubleshoot it in this order:

Start by checking the Action name and the gsftSubmit() call. Since the error shows undefined, the value being passed to the UI Action lookup is likely missing.
