Earlier this week we asked how people first entered the ServiceNow ecosystem, and it was great to see a couple of community members share their paths.

@David Nottingha explained that his introduction to ServiceNow came through an organizational tool evaluation where Servicenow was ultimately adopted by David's company. As an IT Change Manager, the platform naturally became part of his day-to-day responsibilities. @suraj sengar shared how he transitioned from working with Cherwell to Servicenow, outlining some of the key differences between the platforms along with the challenges and strategies that helped him make the shift.

Yesterday's office hours reinforced a similar theme. While learning paths can provide useful structure, careers in the ecosystem rarely follow a single predefined route. Many practitioners find their direction gradually as they gain experience, explore different areas of the platform, and discover where their skills fit best.

If you're exploring your own entry point, a couple of resources mentioned during the conversation are worth checking out:

We'll continue this conversation during our next session on March 24th, where we'll explore how the ServiceNow community itself can be used as a navigation tool.

Let's keep the discussion going:

What helped you move from learning about the platform to finding your place within it?

@jasminecole Thank you for sharing these insights. It’s encouraging to see how diverse the entry points into the ServiceNow ecosystem can be. In my experience, the real shift came when I moved from structured learning to applying the platform in real-world scenarios—projects and collaboration with peers made all the difference. The community continues to be an invaluable resource for guidance and growth, and I look forward to the upcoming session on how to leverage it even further.

@David Nottingha Unfortunately we didn't record Tuesday's office hours, but the session on March 24th will be recorded in case you're unable to join live!
