Allow time card reporting on - preference question

I have a project that has the allow time card reporting on preference set to "Project and Project Task". I have one resource plan, that is not assigned to any project, and that user only sees the Project Name on their time card (in time sheet portal). I have another resource plan that is assigned to a task, on the same project. On their time sheet portal they see the project and specific project task. Is there anyway to not show the project on a user that is assigned to tasks. this is causing confusion on where they should put their time?

Is it possible to share some screen shots as I am having a hard time to picture the situation. Also, not sure how you managed to have a Resource Plan not attached to a Project, does that mean Task field is empty?

Hi Tera, if you look at the Time Sheet view I am trying to see if I can only show the task assignment vs the project also. Confusing for the time reporter.

Hi @DMaggio  I could not open the Resource Plan screen shot, can you please try again with the correct extension (it shows as .jfif), but based on the screen shots you shared already and your main post, have you tried selecting in the Preferences just "Project tasks only" and see how the system behaves? In my company for example we opted for "Project only" and the time card user would only see the projects listed for which they have a resource plan they got allocated on. I guess in your case you could test with a brand new project, with preference for time reporting on Project Task only and perhaps create the Resource Plan at the Project task level rather than at Project level, so it doesn't confuse the end user.

At the same time, as far as I know, if a time card user is mentioned in the Assigned to field of a project task (regardless if they have a resource plan on the project), in Time Sheet Portal when using "Generate time cards" depending on the State and Dates of the project task, it will pop in the TASK tab in the Portal. Hope this helps somewhat..
