Average Daily FTE Hours/Hours Per Person Day and Hourly rate priority

If I set up Average Daily FTE Hours/Hours Per Person Day at group and at an user level, the user being part of the group, which value will have priority?

The same question is for the Hourly rate -- if I set it up at role and user level, the user having that specific role assigned, which value will have priority?

Hi @Betty ,

First of all it is not mandatory to set the Average Daily FTE Hours/Hours Per Person Day at group / user level. System automatically sets its value as 8 (out of the box) based on the value defined at the system properties (Properties - Resource).

However, if resource manager sets this value then it is used to decide 1 FTE / person days is equivalent to how many hours. This value will be utilized to calculate the planned hours on a resource plan when the resource plan is created in FTE / Person days.

Let's take an example:

Average Daily FTE Hours/Hours Per Person Day for QE-US-SFO group is set as 10.

Create a resource plan for 1 week for 1 FTE, the planned hours will be translated to 50 (10*5) which otherwise would have been 40 because out of the box value is set as 8 hours (8*5)

Similarly if Average Daily FTE Hours/Hours Per Person Day for user is set as 10.

Create a user resource plan for 1 week for 1 FTE, the planned hours will be translated to 50 (10*5).

There is nothing like group / user value taking precedence. These are used to calculate hours in respective resource plans as mentioned above.

Note: Capacity is not derived from FTE, but from the associated schedule. Both FTE and schedule must be in synchronization with each other.

Now, second question for the Hourly rate -- if I set it up at role and user level, the user having that specific role assigned, which value will have priority?

Group / role rate is considered while planning the resource plan so the planned cost is driven using group / role rate. On booking the resources, system considers the user hourly rate hence the confirmed / allocated cost is driven using the users' hourly rate.

Let's understand this also with an example:

Role has 200 $as hourly rate.

It has 2 users and 1 user's hourly rate is 10 and another user's hourly rate is 20.

Notice the planned cost for role resource plan for 8 hours = 1600 USD (200 *8)

whereas the confirmed cost is 120 USD. Confirmed / Allocated cost for Jane for 4 hours = 40 USD (4 *10$) and for Dave it is 80 USD (4*20$)

Hope you find this helpful & correct answer!

Thank you a lot for the documentation of my reply!

The 2nd topic is clear.

For the 1st one, if the user has a 6 h schedule and the group has 8, which on will be taken into consideration, the request being done at the group level?

Thank you.

Hi @Namita Mishra ,

I have multiple schedule so I am associating it to user at user form level instead of resource-properties.

If the schedule associated to user is 7.5 hours per day, then should I set the field 'Average Daily FTE Hours/Hours Per Person Day' to 7.5 hours at user form level?

Please clarify this.

Thanks,

Talya
