Can roadmaps in the APW be configured to use planned start and end dates rather than approved start and end dates

Can roadmaps in the APW be configured to use planned start and end dates when extending dates or dragging and dropping items (that result in dates being extended) rather than having the approved start and end dates being altered.

I have a business process around Approved end dates where an Issue is triggered (prompting a change request) when approved end dates are surpassed by the planned dates. Therefore, I do not want users to be able to alter Planned end dates in the APW and thus by-passing the change process.

The dates can be changed from Approved to Planned from Roadmap Preferences. This change cannot be made by roadmap viewers.

Users with sn_roadmap_plng.roadmap_admin role can perform this update.

For example: Below screenshot shows the Start & End date fields for Project. By default they are set to Approved Start / Approved End Dates.

Hi Namita, I have changed the dates from approved start date/end date to planned start date/end date in Portfolio planning configuration of pm_project and  sn_align_core_project but still not able to see Roadmap view populate according to Planned dates. 

Can you please help if there is anything I am missing.

Hi @Namita Mishra , while this thread has been marked solved for some time, a follow up question - if the above roadmap preference is updated for projects by our administrator, and in the screenshot, it looks like the source table is project.  Does that mean that the default Approved Start/End Dates remain unchanged for the demand source table?  Or is the roadmap admin able to set multiple conditions for the start/end date? 

 

We have a use case to periodically review the demands and in flight projects and want to see the demands' start/due date and the projects' planned start/end dates in the roadmap.  From this post and this other post, I can see that when a project is created by converting a demand then the approved start and end dates of the demand get carried over to these project fields (approved start and end dates), however during the course of the project and for portfolio planning reference, I'd like to look at the dates set by the project manager currently in the project record and let operational process take care of the variance/change control. 

 

So, seeing the project's approved dates is challenging since I cannot access/edit those fields on the project record, but very helpful on the demand side so would like to see if possible to have both.
