Changing planned start and end dates

How do you adjust or open up the planned start and end dates of a project or a task if either a date is entered in error? For example, if the planned start/end date is mistakenly set for today 6/16/2017; after the date passes I cannot adjust, these date fields are locked.

Hi Chris,



Please check if any client script/UI policy is there which are making the field readonly when date passes.

Hi Christopher,



OOB we do not lock the fields after the date pass. The date can get locked in following scenario



1. For Start ASAP tasks always Planned start date is locked, we automatically pick up the earliest possible date to start the task


2. If there are children for a task, then planned dates are locked and in this case dates rollup from children


3. For tasks going to WIP, planned start date is locked.



For scenario (3) we have a Project preference "Enable altering of planned date(s) for task in WIP/Closed" which again allows you to modify planned start date even if project task has gone into WIP.



If you are seeing that planned dates are not editable outside the above scenarios, I would suggest you check if any customizations are doing that.
