Confidential Portfolio Plans

Is anyone aware if there is an out-of-the-box option to set up a confidential Portfolio Plan? For example, a confidential HR initiative. When I mention confidential, consider how the HR scope app operates. I know you can create a portfolio plan and restrict who you share it with, but users in the right roles, such as admin or apw_admin, will still have full access. I also understand that you can customize the security to achieve this. I am mainly interested in discovering if there is an out-of-the-box option or a future plan from the SPM team to introduce such a feature.

We are trying to figure this out as well.  We did add a confidential flag to our Demand records with an associated Demand Access Control list, but that doesn't really translate into the portfolios and it isn't OOB.

It seems like we will have to implement Data Separation, but I'm not sure.  https://www.servicenow.com/docs/bundle/xanadu-it-business-management/page/product/data-separation/co...

Probably not helpful to you, but we're on this journey as well.

We explored Data Separation implementation but the problem is this is restricted to execution tables only - therefore, when accessing demand / project records from the Portfolio Planning workspace there were no restrictions.

I read there was a different approach being worked on by ServiceNow and Data Separation would be deprecated once the new solution was ready.

This is an urgent need for us too, as we have several confidential initiatives going on at the moment which cannot be tracked within the tool since this functionality is not in place...

Yes, I learned of the deprecation after I posted that and now I'm under the impression that the solution is either in ACLs, which seems sort of complex, or through Enterprise-Wide Deployment that Kartik mentions below.  Either way, I'm growing desperate to be able to limit access to items in the alignment table (goals, strategies, etc.) in a simple, scalable, and extensible way.

Hi, I am from the product management team in SPM. Today, there is no OOB capability to mark portfolio plans as confidential but we are currently working on an initiative called Enterprise-wide Deployment that aim to answer the question: what are the capabilities needed to on-board multiple groups of users (onto SPM applications) with varying settings/requirements. I think this is a use-case that falls into that umbrella. If you would like to know more about what we are trying to do, please feel free to reach out to me: kartiknitin.dasani@servicenow.com
