Custom Resource Reports (Utilization, etc.)

Not sure if this is the best place to ask or if it would be more appropriate for the reporting forum, but we are attempting to make custom forecasted utliization reports.

We would like to do something simliar to the out of the box version found under "Resource Reports", but I haven't found any appropriate table able to replicate that functionality as of yet.

Another example would be in this case (attached image), I would want to run it for all portfolios at once, and group like you can in normal reporting, rather than only showing teams associated with that particular portfolio.

Hi Scott,

Have you tried creating reports using table resource aggregates tables?

I user this report all the time to do resource forecasting and ensure utilization.

Thanks! That is one of the tables I was looking at (group_resource_aggregate_monthly), but it was missing some of the nice % utlizations, coloring options, etc that the out of the box Resource Reports module had.

I realize I could probably build out the coloring rules, but without being able to use % scores instead in the chart, that would somewhat lose its meaning, as the coloring would have to be different for each group.

As it sits, using a report similar to the one you recommended with parent category instead I'm hoping with fit what they want.

I also took a look at the "resource_report" table(s), but it appears they aren't actually populated with any data currently.

Marking your answer correct for now, as I can't find anywhere in the system that really does what our process owners want. (Kind of a combination of the aggregate tables and the out of the box "resource reports" module.)

How do you pull in the forecast numbers (soft allocations)?  From what I am finding in the resource aggregate tables, it only shows the hard allocations.  Is that correct?

I'm still learning as I go a bit with ITBM reports, but for those, I end up using the out of the box "resource reports" module. It seems to do a pretty good job of that part, as it pulls in data from resource plans and what not.

Haven't ever really found anywhere that combines the two (forecsts and hard allocations) in a way we would really like it to.
