How to mark Resource Assignments as complete?

How do you complete a resource assignment? Earlier in Resource Plans, if there was a piece of task completed before the planned end date, the project managers had an option to mark the resource plan as complete. I am not able to see any such option in the new resource assignments created from project workspace. Could someone please help with this?

@Namita Mishra Could you please offer any help here?

 Hi @Pranav_Thanedar ,

Thanks for connecting with community.

You rightly mentioned that earlier there was an option to complete the resource plan if the work is finished before the planned end date to release the resources time for rest of the period.

In new resource assignment this option is not available however in plan.

If this answers your query please mark this as correct response.

Happy SPM Learning !

Thank You!

Thank you for the response @Namita Mishra ,

I am thinking of consulting the stakeholders to use the "Realign assignments to task" option if the task is closed before planned end date. I tested it out, and it realigns the dates in resource assignment and also calculates right cost in the financials section.

Any suggestions on this approach having impact on some other areas of implementation?

one potential impact I envision is on the timecard management which we will be planning in the next phase, but I am not sure if that will be an issue..

Did you find any solution? I have the same big problem...It's so important for us to show resources as a newly available if task is cancelled or completed prematurely

Hello Pranav,

There is no explicit 'cancel\complete' button, but as you called out - if you cancel or complete the task and press the button (by task or for the full project) to align assignments to dates, you should see the result you want.

Restated, you do not need to complete individual assignments to free up resources when a task is completed.  Using the 'sync resources' or 'realign assignments to tasks' will not only do what you want, but it will also update the start and end dates for any assignments tied to tasks that shifted.

I hope this helps,

Chris
