How to mark Resource Assignments as complete?

How do you complete a resource assignment? Earlier in Resource Plans, if there was a piece of task completed before the planned end date, the project managers had an option to mark the resource plan as complete. I am not able to see any such option in the new resource assignments created from project workspace. Could someone please help with this?

I know this is old but just trying to understand how the resource assignment is supposed to work when the demand is complete or project. Do the resource assignments just show up forever in Resource Workspace? There does not seem to be a way to close it out so it no longer shows up in the workspace, what am I missing?

We are facing this same challenge.  From what I've read, it's assumed if the date is past date, than it's no longer valid.  However our PMs manage the project and managers manage the Resources.  We have reports set up as we will often see a project past the end date and not extended in a timely manner, which means we cannot adjust the resources to match the end date.  We're trying to find a mechanism to sift through what is past date and valid and what is past date and needs the PM to extend the Project date.

We're in the same boat as well, we don't assign people at the task level currently, only the project level. Their work is done, the resource assignment is past it's end date, but the assignment is still showing up for them in the RM Workspace and on time cards.

The work around I ended up developing that fit our business needs was to create a Tag to show them as Complete.  I then updated the stand alone reports I had to not display anything with the tag.  I demoed this to our Primary Project Managers, when reviewing assigned resources, to also check the Tag.  

It would be ideal to be able to 100% say if the dates are past due, the resource is no longer on the project, but that is not our reality.  The dates slip and sometimes are not updated timely.

Resource Assignments will show in RMW if the assignment planned dates and RMW card dates overlap in any way.  The assumption is that you want to see all work between two dates, not just work with a particular assignment status.  So today you will need to manually update the start or end date of the card in RMW to modify the rows shown.  

In Q1 2027, we plan to add dynamic dates to RMW cards (e.g., start today+7d-end today+97d).  This way, as time moves forward you will not have to modify card dates to cause an assignment to 'drop off'.  

If your question is 'how can I explicitly end an assignment early and have that change displayed in RMW', then the end date of the assignment needs to be updated and the state optionally updated. 

By way of example; If you have an assignment that was supposed to end on Nov 6, but you want to show it finished as of Oct 16 (because they are done), then the assignment end date needs to be set to Oct 16.  This can be accomplished 2 ways.  In PW, you can set the task date to end on Oct 16 and that will reset all resource assignments on the task to end no later than Oct 16.  Then you can close the task.  If it is an individual who is finished early (say one resource is done today, but the rest will need until Nov 6), then from the lower try of PW or the upper tray of RMW you would set the end date to Oct 16.

With the October release, we did add a new option to the context menu of an individual assignment called "end work early".  If you click this, we will serve up a modal asking when the work should end (it assumes today), then asking if you want a specific state associated with the new end date (completed, cancelled, finished early, etc) or if you want to keep the current state (most likely pending or approved depending on your process).

We know that ease of use is a gap and there are additional ease of use improvements planned.  Please keep sharing feedback and I look forward to hearing from you and the community as you use the enhancements.
