How to modify the Execution type of Project?

After creating a project, the  Execution type of project is saved as waterfall and cannot be changed. 

Does it relate to the project template I used?

How can I update the project execution type to "Agile"?

You need aglie plugin installed to update project execution type to "Agile".

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but you may want to consider using hybrid (both waterfall and agile). This is becoming really common and gives you the flexibility to do both in the same project.
