I am new to this so i could be missing something very obvious.
I have a project setup with task and resource assignments and would like to track the actual effort logged by the resource. The resource has submitted a timecard against a task on the project, that timecard has been approved/processed, however the effort is not being applied to the project.
What am I missing?
Thanks.

Couple if things.
1. First off there is a property that needs to be set for this to happen. Navivate to Time Card >> Properties
The area in red int he picture needs to be checked.
2. Actual time card hours will get logged to the resource plan.
3. You can either view the resource plan individually (but that is annoying IMO) or you can create a list view for all resource plans for that project like this, where the "top task" is your project.
4. You then need to customize your list view to see actual hours in the list view
5. Your final result should look something like this.
Couple things to keep in mind.
1. Planned to actual time is ONLY TRACKED at the RESOURCE PLAN LEVEL. So if you want to global visibility at a 1 to 1 level (ie you want to see each PERSONS planned to actual) you need always have 1 resource allocation to 1 resource plan only. If you dont care about that and the group level is fine then you can have multiple allocation in a group resource plan but what is tracked is at the group level not the individual level.
Please mark helpful if this added value.

Although this blog post is from Fuji so some functionality may be different (Corbett or others may be able to note the differences), here is a blog post on our experience with setting up time tracking and rolling up for projects: 'Time' Implementation Blog Post . We had not yet implemented Resource Management but I don't think it matters with what you are trying to do. Hope this helps!
