We are looking at turning on project benefits (monetary/non-monetary) to SPM - starting in Demand and carried through to PRJ. What were some of the lessons learned from your organization's implementation?
- how does your organization utilize the feature
- how much of the implementation was Out of the Box
- how did operational leadership view having benefits tracked

Susan, I'm not sure I can give you all the answers you're looking for as we're in the process of rolling the Benefit Plans functionality out. In fact, we started the roll-out last week. We're terming it "Value Realization" and is something the C-Level have been asking for since we implemented "business cases" a few years ago; that the benefits/value that the business lead proposes in their business case is actually delivered by the project.
We plan to use it 100% out of the box with a couple of reports added to our "Planning Dashboard" to facilitate governance, monitoring, etc.
The plan is for our Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) to create the Benefit Plans once a demand is approved. They will decide which demand requires it and which doesn't. Our BRMs report into the business units but have a heavy dotted line into IT (they used to report to the CIO but were transferred to the BUs to better align with the business).
The BRMs will be responsible for recording actuals against the Benefit Plans also. We're leaving it up to them how often they do it and I suspect they will need occasional reminding. The plan is for them to reach out to the business lead who submitted the original business case to obtain the info for their updates.
Hope that makes sense and answers your questions as best I can (having not actually implemented yet)
