Notification Email translation - how an ootb email notification is translated and how to test it?

Hello Community,

I would like to understand how an ootb notification email is translated into multiple languages and how can I test it?

For example, the ootb "Notification on Idea State Change" is using an email script, where the text in the body is built by using the Messages table and the gs.getMessage function.

I have multiple language plugins activated, I can see the translaitons in the Messages table for german/italian/french/etc...

I have a test user, who's language preference is set to german in the user table, also logging in with the user the language of the session is german. Whatever I do, I still get the Idea State Change email notification in english for this user.

How should it work ootb?

Hello, thanks for the links! I'm aware the concept of creating custom notifications for each language type, and it is a good way if you are dealing with only a couple of languages, and need new notifications.

However I'm more interested in if the OOTB email notification - provided by ServiceNow - are translated at all or not? Based on your first link, it looks like they are not, but I would be very surprised if this is the case.

Yes, OOB email notifications are not translated.
