Notifications associated with Enhancements or Stories

Hello all,

My team is trying to figure out how best to use stories and enhancements as we implement agile & SPM. We currently put all our requests from users into two main buckets buckets (large = project & small = change request, maintenance or keep the lights on). Right now we handle our small requests via HR Cases and we are able to communicate with our stakeholders/requesters through the case. 

As we implement SPM/Agile, we want to utilize Enhancements or Stories for our small requests. These changes don't typically involved a project manager and are managed by our developers. One question I can't figure out is are there any options for notifications via enhancements or stories. For example, an employee submits an idea and we work through the demand process and decide that it's small enough to be an enhancement. Is there anyway that the original requester can be kept up to date through the enhancement? Can we turn notifications on for either so we can keep our stakeholders/requests up to date on the small change/enhancement/story? 

Any help with this subject would be greatly appreciated! We are new to the SPM/Agile world.

There isn't any OOB notifications on enhancements, and none that are 'client facing" in stories.

Enhancements existed before stories.  Before "Agile" really caught fire.  Enhancements also contain stories.
Do all your stories roll up to Enhancements?  If so, roll your coms up to that leve.

When we used Enhancements we had notifications going out to the requestor whenever the Enhancement changed state.  We also used the Work Notes a lot to communicate with the customer.

Thanks for your response, it's super helpful. For the work notes, I was under the impression that those were internal only. Can you expand on how you communicated with the customer through the work notes? Did they have access to each enhancement?

Our Enhancements have always had the ability to send customer visible work notes.  I am not sure if that was something we developed or not as I was not with the company when Enhancements went live.  Our customers also had a view only view of Enhancements on the Portal.  So when they got an e-mail with the work note there was a link for them to view the Enhancement on the Portal and add a note or they could reply via e-mail to add a work note.  The business users were very thankful to have access and able to communicate with us.
